Ben Murphey

Before focusing on his painting, Ben was a model represented by David & Lee in Chicago, and Zoli in Miami Beach.  He appeared in ads for Armani Exchange, Fila, and Pepsi.  Later, Ben returned to school and studied printmaking, painting, literature, and art history at Florida International University, graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.

Ben’s larger canvases are reminiscent of the collaborative works between the giants of the 1980s.  His smaller works draw from his printmaking studies.  Ben’s trademark irregularly stretched canvases with exposed staples are footnotes from the studies of physics, linguistics, pop culture, law, and literature.

Private and corporate collectors from Berlin to Los Angeles hold his paintings.
